West Virginia: Mothman
Brewery: Greenbrier Valley Brewing
Style: Black IPA
Call it a Cascadian Dark Ale, American Black Ale, or Black IPA — there is something intrinsically pleasurable about combining the roasty, chocolatey qualities of a porter or stout with the bright, citrusy, and floral flavors of an IPA. Greenbrier Valley Brewing of Maxwelton does it best with Mothman, combining easy-going two-row and roasted crystal malts with tangerine-like Amarillo and pine-like Chinook hops from the Pacific Northwest.
