18. Bread Bar – Silver Plume, Colorado
“Silver Plume is only 45 minutes outside Denver, but it feels like it’s 100 years away,” says Bread Bar co-owner Sam Alviani. She bought the building on Main Street two years ago with three others, all of whom now take turns behind the bar. Their house cocktails are inspired by famous locals, like the rye-heavy Clifford Griffin, named after a lovesick miner who played his violin above town. In summer, hikers, bikers, and tourists congregate on the back deck for live music. In winter, it’s like hanging out “in a Wild West snow globe,” says Alviani.
