Mudhouse Coffee Roasters
Based in downtown Charlottesville with two additional “coffeebars” and a second storefront location in the small town of Crozet, this Virginia micro roaster provides more than the 60,000 pounds of beans it roasts for its community each year: it provides community itself. Since its start in 1993, Mudhouse has offered Charlottesville—which co-founder, Lynelle Lawrence refers to as “a beautiful town of harmony“—with communal spaces for art, music and charitable donation, and of course, all the while, serving some of the country’s best farm-to-cup coffee.
One Mudhouse offering, Finca La Mula CAC Reserve Geisha (originating from Mudhouse’s own coffee farm partnership in Panama, Finca La Cabra) was named a 2016 winner of the prestigious Good Food Awards, a recognition honoring producers who weave brining people together and building strong, healthy communities into their business plans. Mudhouse was also designated by Roast Magazine as the 2017 Micro Roaster of the Year, widely considered the most prestigious honor in the specialty coffee industry.Back to top
