Fox in the Snow in Columbus, Ohio
Yes, like the Belle and Sebastian song. The duo behind this popular hangout is actually a husband-wife team that met in New York City (he was working at Blue Bottle, she was staging around town as a pastry apprentice) that set up their dream bean house in cozy Italian Village. With an airy, industrial interior (it’s actually a renovated mason garage), the knowledgeable staff doles out rustic-style baked goods (think custard-filled donuts, brioche cobblestone muffin, ham and swiss tarts), and a streamlined list of stellar coffee. Picture metal smiths and glass blowers from the nearby Columbus Ideas Foundry mingling with fashion designers from Victoria’s Secret (who has its headquarters just miles away) and parents-with-strollers crews. And thanks to newspapers and magazines lying around and the lack of WiFi, people are actually, you know, interacting. Warning: You’ll probably want to double up on your pastries order. Just don’t bother phoning it in, there isn’t one.
