Where: South Portland, Maine
When: July 20
“At this moment, I’m a little burnt out on hazy IPAs, and there are only so many of those you can enjoy responsibly at a festival,”says beer writer and author Joshua M. Bernstein. “In the summertime, you want a refreshing beer. [Pils & Love] aligns well with the season, and not just a trend. This festival is going to have a lot more moderate-strength beers, so you’re trying more without sacrificing your sobriety.”
Pils & Love is presented by Oxbow Brewing Company, and will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. It’s a picturesque setting for a festival that captures the spirit of summer with lighter, crisper beers interpreted by over 60 of the country’s best breweries. If you couldn’t tell by the name, it’s all about pilsners here.
“This enables you to dive down a little deeper and get to see some diversity, especially with pilsners—they’re a little more nuanced and delicate,” says Bernstein.
