BYSTANDER CPR REALLY SAVES LIVES
Stunning news: the Journal of the American Medical Association reports that after Danes were urged to learn CPR, 45% of Denmark’s heart attack victims had a bystander step in and perform it—up from 21% a decade ago. And victims’ chances of staying alive en route to the hospital rose almost threefold, from 8% to 22%. Can you perform CPR? “One in four people has been in a situation where someone may have needed CPR,” says the American Red Cross’ Richard N. Bradley, M.D. Just remember: Press 30, breathe twice—save a life.
