Blended Irish Whiskeys
Believe it or not, there are challengers to the throne in the best-known Irish whiskey category. An American whiskey maker in Ireland created the most exciting blended Irish whiskey in years. Malty and sweet, 2 Gingers is aged for four years before bottling. Compared to a lot of things in the category it’s much spicier on the palate, much rounder on the nose, with fruity honey notes and a backbone of vanilla that coats the mouth. Think of it like taking a sip of barrel-aged cake icing. Of course, there’s the old bellwether to be considered too: Jameson is probably the best known whiskey in the world, and the reason it outlasted everyone else is, well, quality.
