Brewer: Avery Brewing
Style: Imperial Stout
We call Avery's Tweak an imperial stout, but at nearly 18-percent alcohol, it's twice the strength of many beers in the style. This massive dark brew spends four months in bourbon barrels, but also gets a huge addition of espresso beans (cold-brewed in Tweak, not water). Despite the potential for overpowering malts or coffee, the result is smooth, albeit thick, with rich chocolate balanced against roasted barley and bourbon notes.
