Firestone Walker Saves Pliny
No sooner does Russian River brew its beloved double IPA Pliny the Elder than do drinkers lap it up — a fact that keeps production rocking ’round the clock. But this year, Russian River was forced to replace its overworked equipment, which would seriously dent Pliny production. To keep the double IPA flowing on draft during the month-long downtime, Firestone Walker agreed to brew several Pliny batches. It’s hardly the only brewery to assist in a pinch. Green Flash brewed draft beer for Alpine (the two breweries have since permanently joined forces), while Green Flash’s West Coast IPA is now brewed at Belgium’s Brasserie St. Feuillien for the European market. Helping hands are not hard to come by in craft beer.
