But our foundational beliefs were rocked to the very core with the news that Jim Murray’s authoritative Whisky Bible named Suntory’s Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 the world’s top whisky, calling the Japanese spirit’s flavor “near indescribable genius.” It was a clear announcement that the world must pay deeper attention to Japanese whisky — and bourbon too. This year Suntory purchased Beam, which included brands such as Maker’s Mark and Knob Creek.
