These Are America’s Most Vegan-Friendly Cities

Is America ready for a vegan fast food chain? Just ask Portland, who would sure as hell say yes, considering their excess of vegan establishments and eateries just earned them the crown as PETA's Most Vegan-Friendly City. "Running for a list like this is much tighter now because so many more cities are becoming vegan-friendly. Portland is just ahead of the curve," says Ashley Byrne, a campaign specialist with PETA.

The City of Roses differentiates itself from most other plant-strong locales, with their very own punk-metal barvegan summer camp, and tattoo stop. They even have a vegan strip club ("It's an all vegan-menu. The dress code for performers also excludes wearing any animal dress-fur," says Byrne). Some local favorite vegan haunts include Blossoming Lotus and Petunia's Pies and Pastries. Petunia's desserts are also gluten-free (in case you care). If you find yourself in town, be sure to grab one of their salted double chocolate chunk cookies. Or, indulge in a locally sourced omnivore-friendly cookie where your waiter knows the name of the cookie's egg's mother and its lineage, if they still offer those…

Here are the top ten cities that topped PETAs vegan-friendly list:

1. Portland

2. Los Angeles

3. New York City

4. Detroit

5. Nashville

6. San Diego

7. Honolulu

8. Austin

9. Seattle

10. Richmond, Virginia
