Vive le Cognac
Depending on which way things go tonight, I’m thinking a one-way ticket to France might be in order. To get me there quicker, I’ll be sipping a new cognac cocktail with an American feel: Bache-Gabrielsen’s American Oak. This spirit from a 111 year-old cognac house is aged in authentic new American Tennessee Oak barrels for a minimum of six months; it’s also first-of-its kind, just like so much of what we’ve seen this election season. – Gates Otsuji, Regional Chef de Bar at The Standard Hotels
Frère Thomas (Brother Thomas, referring to founder Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen)
2 oz Bache-Gabrielsen’s American Oak
0.75 oz tangerine cordial
0.75 oz lemon juice
Combine ingredients, shaken & fine-strained into a coupe. This one also works in large format, and makes a marvelous, brightly colored punch.
