Audi RS5 Sportback
Audi’s RS5 Coupe, set to go on sale this summer, includes a twin-turbocharged V-6 with 444 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque (the latter strikes almost immediately when you stomp the gas, at just 1,900rpm). But if you need a more spacious car, hold out for the Sportback version that’s just dropped in New York, and goes on sale this fall. Based on the A5 Sportback, this is a bigger, Swiss-Army-Knife of a car, the ultimate merger of wagon and sedan. Flip the rear seats down and you’ve got room for a mountain bike, ski gear, or a week’s worth of adventure equipment. And you’ve still got AWD, but the split isn’t 50:50 between the front and rear tires. Instead there’s a rearward bias of 40:60, while oil-based, adjustable dampers vary ride quality from smooth to locked-down Dynamic mode. Which you’ll need for launches to 60 mph (Audi says in under 4 seconds), and a top speed of up to 174mph. No word yet on the price, but the Coupe goes for $70,000.
