Forget 2015 already. Suzuki’s giving us a look at its 2016 lineup with the reveal of the GSX-S1000, its future entry into the naked powerbike segment. This machine has good genes, stemming from the GSX-R1000 sport bike that dominated U.S. superbike racing in the 2000s. But the S version is built for street use, and takes its basic 999cc motor from the highly respected 2005 version of the big GSX-R — with a longer piston stroke that gives this new bike better, more appropriate low- and mid-range power for the road. The upright tubular handlebars also make more street sense. But, like the R model, this one comes with a lightweight aluminum frame, and powerful brakes sourced from Brembo, the Italian masters of stoppage. Expect this one to hit the market later in 2015, alongside a version with a full fairing. No prices yet announced.
