Mazda Miata MX-5 RF
Mazda surprised everyone with the global debut of this Miata RF (Retractable Fastback) with a gorgeous targa top. This fastback dandy, which adds some 180 pounds to the body, single-handedly brings flying buttresses to the masses, in the process revolutionizing a field once dominated by Porsche. Press a button at up to six miles per hour, and the entire rear window, C-pillar, and side windows rise in one piece. The center roof splits into two and slides carefully underneath, the entire fastback slipping down on little metal arms. In North America, power will come via a Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter I-4, which produces 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. What’s more? It’s offered with a six-speed standard.
