Palm
As phones grow bigger, it becomes increasingly harder to pack them into gym shorts or workout arm bands. With its six-inch screen, the iPhone X Plus can even be a burden in the pocket of slim-fit jeans. That’s where the Palm comes in: It’s not a phone, per se. It’s more like a smartwatch, only more capable. It’s designed to let you ditch your clunky device and still stay connected.
Is it an odd product? Sure. And it only works on the Verizon network. But the 3.3-inch screen is roughly the size of your coffee shop punch card, and it allows users to occasionally leave their $1,200 phones safely at home or in a backpack. And ultimately, the sacrifices are few: The Palm will run most popular apps (including Google Maps and music services), it’s durable (it’ll even survive shallow water submersion), and it has a camera (two, in fact—one in front and one in back).
