4. BEST FOR CRATE DIGGERS: AT-LP5
The AT-LP5 aims to be a do-it-all workhorse. It has a built-in preamp and was the only model we tested that has a USB output, for converting LPs to MP3s, which, frankly, doesn’t seem terribly essential in the age of Spotify and other streaming services, but some collectors may appreciate it. Its sound quality was acceptable overall, though the low end could be a bit muddy at times.
