Aiper Smart Cordless Robot Pool VacuumGET IT
Because of all the upkeep they require, the saying that “the best boat in the world… is your friend’s boat” is pretty accurate. The same could be said about a pool: From playing amateur chemist to inflating floats, keeping a pool in shape is a lot of work. Robot vacuums make cleaning easier, as they cruise around the pool floor and up the walls like a Roomba. But Aiper’s version does away with the typical floating, cumbersome cord that can limit the travel of a traditional pool bot. Instead, it works using a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, like your power tools. After an 8-hour charge, the robot runs for about 90 minutes, scrubbing the walls and floor.
Once you drop it into the pool the bot maps out the size and the most efficient route to clean the floor and the walls. A pair of soft PVC paddles grab debris and push it into the vacuum slot underneath the bot where they get caught by a filter basket. The runtime makes the bot a better fit for small to medium-sized pools—something you can clean sufficiently in one charge. Unlike more expensive, often complex bots, the Aiper is far simpler. There is no app, no scheduling feature, no lights that flash at night. It has only one switch. Toss it into the pool and when the battery is about to die, the bot will pull next to a wall so you can easily fish it out with a hook that clicks into the skimmer pole. Heaving it out of the water might be the most difficult part of the process. It’s a handy tool that helps with routine maintenance, which means you might actually be free to enjoy the pool.—Sal Vaglica, Men’s Journal contributor
