Kwikset Premis Lock
Though it couldn’t compete against the digital eye-candy of a massive, photo-resolution SUHD TV, smart-home tech is everywhere at CES, and the most obviously appealing and functional device of that realm is easily the smart-lock for your front door. Kwikset has been at the forefront with its Kevo lock, but the company’s newly announced Premis lock is especially promising. Ditching keys in favor of a weatherproofed touchpad (you can still use a key as a backup, if need be), the Premis links up with Apple devices via HomeKit, allowing for voice commands to lock or unlock your door as you please, as well as linking up with other HomeKit equipped devices. For instance, you could set up your device to lock your door whenever the thermostat notices you aren’t home (or having the thermostat drop the temperature whenever you leave the house and lock the door).The key, pardon the pun, is that a smart door lock is the one mission-critical device you need to be reliable 100 percent of the time.
