Live Stream Movi
CES is lousy with mini cameras hoping to be the next GoPro-style titan. Most are cursed by one bum spec or another, but Movi is the rare exception, with a unique feature — easy, on-the-fly editing — that we’ve never seen before. This sleek, tubular little number is able to capture and record 4K video, but it’s intended to be a self-contained streaming camera and editing suite for budding self-broadcasters. Using your smartphone or tablet and a companion app, you divide the 4K image into a grid that effectively becomes 9 discrete camera angles. You can then cut, pan, and transition back and forth and between your various angles with the drag of a finger — all while broadcasting your work to the world via a WiFi connection and Live Stream. An optional $250 base accessory, the Boost, extends battery life to 10 hours, while also adding an ethernet port and a SIM card slot. [$400 (currently $200 special); getmovi.com]
