Petzl Elios Helmet
As climbing helmets increasingly resemble bicycle helmets — in appearance and construction — Petzl’s Elios represents a more classic, flexible, and minimalist style. On less technical alpine climbs, helmets are not worn the entire time and are constantly being shoved in and out out of your pack. The less rigid shell — made from incredibly durable ABS plastic — is easier to pack than the heftier rigid foam-lined models — it’s also light (330 grams) and cuts a much lower profile on your head. The adjustment points are easy to use wearing big, thick gloves, and vents can be opened or closed to keep your head cool. [petzl.com]
TIP: When sizing a helmet like this, be aware that you will almost always be wearing a thin beanie underneath it.
