Road Racing: Specialized S-Works 6
Power can be lost when a shoe doesn’t provide a snug, precise fit, so the new Specialized S-Works 6 has been designed to remain comfortably secure during your hard efforts. Specialized started by bonding the new PadLock molded heel cup to a piece of Dyneema Tech fabric (a material used in parachutes). The result is an upper that holds your foot steady and won’t stretch, maximizing power transfer. The shoe’s new Body Geometry sole has been ergonomically designed with input from Dr. Pruitt. The result is an outer sole that Specialized claims increases power transfer and pedaling efficiency while minimizing the chance of injury due to poor alignment of the foot, knee, and hip. It’s also Specialized’s stiffest and lightest sole yet thanks to a FACT Powerline carbon fiber plate. Released just before the 2015 Tour de France, the S-Works 6 shoe provides everything a competitive road racer could ask for. [$400; specialized.com]
