Diversify your grass seeds.
Diversity in species greatly increases a lawn’s chances of survival, so use more than one type of grass for your lawn. “Try a casual lawn — a mix of different plants — and make sure it’s one with clover in it,” says Adamson. Clover provides a natural source of nitrogen, keeps grass greener all year round, and virtually eliminates the need for fertilizer.
