Lithonia Lighting LED Recessed Speaker Light
Lithonia Lighting’s LED Recessed Speaker Light might be the best execution of light and sounds that we’ve recently seen. Where most speaker-light combos are bulky and noticeable, especially in ceilings where they stick out, the Lithonia downlight is a streamlined upgrade for any existing six-inch diameter fixture—and the installation is DIY simple.
An LED light ring emitting 730 lumens (which is about as bright as a 65-watt incandescent bulb) surrounds a five-watt speaker. The LED’s warmth varies from 27000 Klevins, on the warm white side, to 4000 on the cooler blue-white side. The light has an Edison-style adaptor that twists into existing wiring.
Using the Lithonia app, you can Bluetooth to the speaker from nearly any device. The best part is up to eight of the lights pair to spread the sound over a large room. Control the lights with the wall switch, and when the lights are off, the speakers can run for a few hours on an internal battery. These are wet-rated so they’ll work in a bathroom. — Sal Vaglica, Senior Editor
