Sony’s one of the few big name brands to make a serious play to gain traction in the helmet-camera market (as opposed to the rugged-camera market). The AS30 Action Cam improves on its predecessor with a streamlined case that also allows access to controls – for the original version, you were forced to take it out of its housing. This is good news if you want to change settings while keeping your gloves on. The Carl Zeiss lens is good for video up to 1080p (at 60 fps) and snaps 12-megapixel stills. The only thing the earlier model has on this one is its waterproofing. You’re still good for 16 (rather than 197) feet down this time around, so only the dedicated deep-sea diver needs to look for other options. [$299; sonystyle.com]
