Rebirth of an Icon: Aston-Martin DB11
How do you update the most ravishing sports car design of the last decade? That was the remit for Aston Martin in transitioning from DB9 to DB11, and giving new life to its sports car range after several fallow product years. The result is an avant-garde coupe with flowing lines that’s instantly recognizable as a debonair Aston Martin. Engineering director Ian Minards is quick to point out the strength of the new, 600-hp 5.2-liter turbocharged V-12, including cylinder deactivation that can make the 12-cylinder powerhouse act sometimes as a six, but it’s in the design details that the DB11 truly shines. Look no further than the “broguing” trim on the center console, which helps make the interior as fashionable as a pair of Bruno Maglis.
