Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce
Lamborghini’s most ferocious bull, the V12-powered Aventador, gets an upgrade by adding power and subtracting weight. The Italian automaker’s modified mid-engined supercar, dubbed “SV” for short, retains its well-massaged 6.5-liter V12 engine, all-wheel-drive, and a single-clutch, 7-speed automatic transmission. But thanks to a tweak of the engine’s valve timing, intake system, and exhaust, horsepower is increased to 740 from 691 — for a 0-to-62 mph time of 2.8 seconds. By making the fixed rear wing, door panels, and engine cover out of carbon fiber, the supercar sheds 110 pounds, carrying the historic SV torch into the next generation with aplomb.
