Garmin has a long history with sports trackers — it’s been making GPS-powered wristwatches for more than a decade — so it makes sense the next step is to integrate all-day activity tracking into its wheelhouse products. The Vivoactive, while still sporty, looks good enough to wear all day, so — using GPS — it can track all your physical efforts from your morning jog or swim to your errands around town. Soon users will be able to customize their device with watch faces and apps created by third-party developers via Garmin’s new Connect IQ platform. To get an idea of what that means: Garmin highlights an AccuWeather app that will tell users information about air quality and allergens before a run.
