Kia’s 1.0 Liter Engine
With the regulation of fuel economy and tailpipe emissions increasing, every manufacturer is working to improve their vehicles’s petroleate parsimony. Smaller engines can help to accomplish this, not only by using less gas, but by producing lower weight. Which is why brands as disparate as BMW, Volvo, Ford, and Mini are all working on tiny, turbocharged three-cylinder engines to replace their four or five cylinder engines. Kia introduced one of the smallest of these yet, a 1.0 liter powerplant that it will install in its Cee’d GT in Europe.
