The Firebird in Smokey and The Bandit was more than a set prop for Burt Reynolds; it was a full-on co-star. The movie came out in 1977, and in just two years it had doubled Pontiac’s sales of the vehicle. And collectors are still willing to shell out top dollar for these classic American muscle cars, especially when they are the ones owned by Reynolds himself, however briefly. This week Reynolds will personally drive a Bandit-style 1978 Pontiac Firebird Formula to the auction block in Scottsdale, Arizona. Ahead of the auction, here are a few iconic rides from classic movies we’d love to drive that would also be worth an investment, even if they haven’t been touched by a Hollywood legend.
