2018 Ford Mustang GT
In case you haven’t driven a Ford Mustang since getting a V6, rental-spec model from Hertz on vacation five years ago… well, you’ve got a lot to catch up on. The Mustang has quietly gone from being a something of a bare bones pony car into a tech-forward, true sportscar that can really perform in the twisties, thanks in part to the addition of an independent rear suspension in 2015. For model year 2018, the Mustang gets visual tweaks including a lower, restyled hood and grille, reworked LED lights both front and rear, and some suspension tweaks. The base model’s no slouch: its 2.3-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder engine makes a whopping 350 horsepower, and does so with less weight than the V8-powered GT. But we still think you should opt for the GT, not just for the 460 horsepower, but for the soul-enriching exhaust note alone.
