Most fans of Matt Nelson’s SaltAir bikes are more familiar with the performance steel cyclocross bikes coming out of Nelson’s Salt Lake City workshop. So at NAHBS this year, Matt wanted to show off the versatility of modern steel and prove that a top-notch road racer can be created without compromising performance and ride quality. Featuring an extra-long, butted seat tube for increased stiffness at the top tube/seatstay junction, this bike shows what lightweight steel tubes can bring to a competitive road racing machine.
