Sure, Twist Face may sound like a Batman villain, but it could prove to be a savior for many golfers. With data from more than a half-million golf swings, TaylorMade decided that while a traditional driver face works for robots, it doesn’t work for most golfers on the course. The result is what the company calls Twist Face—curves that provide more loft in the high-toe and less loft in the low-heel—offering mitigated side spin (hook-slice) when players make common mishits. TaylorMade claims that Twist Face can mollify about six yards of right and six yards of left misses, which effectively make the fairway substantially wider. Bombs away!
