2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility
Ford recently announced updates to its Explorer SUV, and now it is applying some of those changes to the version it sells to police departments, which is called the Police Interceptor Utility. Most of the updates are cosmetic, including new front-end styling (pay close attention so you know what to look for in the rearview mirror now) and minor changes to the interior. As before, the Police Interceptor Utility’s suspension, brakes, and other chassis components are beefier compared to those of the regular Ford Explorer. Departments can choose either a base V6 engine or a turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with more power. All-wheel drive is standard regardless.
