1943 Ford GPA
Between 1942 and 1943, Ford produced 12,778 GPA amphibious jeeps. “Even though they proved to be too heavy and many sank, they were a unique part of Jeep history,” says Logan. Also known as the Seep (Seagoing Jeep), the model was the first amphibious vehicle, and even though it was too slow on land and struggled in water, the Ford GPA paved the way for future land-to-water vehicles.
