Test Drive for Your Life
There are a few things that you absolutely must do on your test drive: adjust the seats and mirrors, take it on the freeway, take it on side streets, and drive it on a familiar route. “By doing these things, you will notice the differences of driving in your potential car as opposed to your old car,” says Degen. Ask yourself if you like the way the car drives. Do you feel comfortable? Safe?
“Even if you are never going to be riding in the backseat, crawl back there,” says Degen. “The last thing you want to do is get home and realize that your work equipment or your stroller isn’t going to fit in the car you just bought.” Plug in your phone to ensure that the USB works, turn on all of the heating and AC vents, roll down all the windows — don’t assume any feature works likes new.
