The Laptop-Replacing Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2

It wasn't all that long ago that a tablet PC was considered to be more about spare time than spreadsheets. That's changing, and Samsung's new Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a tab that means business. At 12.2-inches, the Note Pro has a display that equals many current laptops in size, and with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, very likely betters most of them for image sharpness too.

Another thing your old tablet probably doesn't have is a faux-leather finish (complete with fake stitching) like the one on the Note Pro. A small, but significant improvement on the usual glossy plastic for sure; it certainly feels more at home in a briefcase. We need a little more than a big screen and an upgraded design before we ditch our laptops though. Handy tools like Remote PC (connect to your desktop), and the smart "S Pen" stylus meant we were soon using this for creative tasks beyond the ability of either a lappy or most other tablets.

Perhaps most useful, though, is the ability to have four apps open and in view at once. Not only to make good use of the eight (yes eight!) processors, but because it's so much nicer not having to jump between screens all the time. The 8-megapixel camera is better than most we've seen on a tablet (though you feel no less self conscious using it), and the large battery, GPS sensor (and even IR-blaster) meant we were reaching for this long after our phones had given up. It's not all suit and tie though. Samsung's included a virtual personal magazine app so you can soak up all the football scores (and secretly check Facebook) when you need a break from all those reports.
