Memorial Day means a lot of things. Barbecues. Pool parties. White pants. Cheap beer. Drunk uncles. Traffic jams… But it also means deals. This is the first official weekend of summer, unofficially — the season doesn’t technically start till June 21 — and that means retailers are eager to make sure it’s their gear on your bod and in your trunk. Here are some of the best sales we found to kick off summer. Happy clicking.
Outfitter Mountain Hardwear is having a big blowout sale on activewear this weekend. This Exponent rain shell ($94) is marked down; this Ghost Whisperer down vest is nearly fifty dollars off; and, for the season, take this Chiller Wide Brim Hat ($30).
Campmor’s Memorial Day Sale spans the store’s entire lineup of name-brand products: Kuhl, Marmot, Pearl Izumi, Garneau, Arc’Teryx, Sierra Designs, Shimano, Salomon, and many more. Beyond apparel and gear, though, we’re particularly excited about Campmor’s selection of Yakima and Thule roof racks (above) and bike carriers.
Bass Pro Shops
While the superstore is an experience in itself, skip the crowds and grab all your gear online, where there’s a ton of stuff on sale. You could opt for something from Bass’s huge selection of apparel, but why buy the clothes when you can buy the gear? Get a Sub Z seat/cooler on wheels (above), a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol, or a Johnny Morris Titanium 8 Casting Rod.
The Swedish outfitter has — no joke — hundreds of items on sale right now, much of it cold-weather outerwear that’s on a terrific markdown. But it’s summer, so for $15, we like this denim snapfront Western shirt ($20 off) as well as these super-trendy joggers (down from $30).
You’re going to like the way you look a lot more when you realize how cheap this stuff is this weekend. Dress shirts from Joseph Abboud and Kenneth Cole for $30? Tan Florsheim wing-tips (above) for under $100? White 501s for $40? Count us in; we’ll be laughing all the way to the liquor store.
Can’t decide what you want? Check out eBay. The online auctioneer is offering an extra 20 percent off a host of outdoor stuff, from this Worx 14” 24v cordless Lawnmower ($200) to a $700 Kegerator for just $320, an 8-foot, 2 ½-foot deep inflatable swimming pool (with filter and pump!) for $70, and even a 40-pound bag of hickory smoking pellets ($30). Just use code P20MEMDAY.
Orvis is having what it calls The Tent Sale, offering an extra 20 percent off most everything — even stuff that’s already on sale. Hydros Large Arbor Fly reels are 30 percent off this weekend, and this Super Tac-L-Pac fishing vest is 20 percent off. Frankly, we’re eyeing this Double-Bolster Horseshoe Dog Bed with Memory Foam (above), from $199.
Through Monday, enter code RWB4103 to receive 10 percent off all certified pre-owned watches from Tourneau. We dig this classy but affordable stainless steel Portofino, and this tasty Omega Seamaster (above). But if you’re feeling particularly randy, go for one of 322 pre-owned Rolexes, starting at $3,200.
Whether it’s rock climbing, backpacking, or trail running, Mountain Gear is offering 30 percent off a huge selection of gear, apparel, and accessories. From rock shoes to bike helmets, from Kuhl shorts to sleeping bags to harnesses, you can load up on all your summer gear supplies in one place this weekend.
One of our favorite outdoor outfitters is blowing out old stock as well as celebrating new stuff this Memorial Day with up to 40 percent off. This beautiful Arc’teryx Covert Full-Zip Cardigan is 25 percent off, and a Patagonia Nano Puff Bivy Insulated Pullover is 30 percent off. Or, opt for a pair of active shoes for 25 percent off, like these Salomon 4 Trail Runners ($97) or these Columbia Peakfreak Venture waterproof hiking boots ($75).
There’s the usual assortment of T-shirts and shorts for summer over at toddsnyder.com, but as with a lot of Memorial Day sales, even better deals can be found on cold-weather items. For example, we’re rather fond of this Satin Racing Jacket, this plush cardigan sweater jacket (above), and this gorgeous tan leather jacket that’s nearly $200 off. But if you want to just settle for the jogger sweats, we totally get it.
REI is not having a “Memorial Day Sale.” Instead, through May 29 take up to 30 percent off everything at REI for their annual Anniversary Sale. Need a new paddleboard, kayak, or canoe? They’re all 15 percent off. How about some camping and hiking gear? Tents, camp stoves, and backpacks — all of it is up to 30 percent off. Even this Garmin Forerunner Heart Rate Monitor Watch is marked down.
Outdoor giant Columbia has no less than 833 items on sale this weekend, from the perfect-for-wading Backcast III water shorts ($23) to this vented Bahama Marlin PFG shoe (above, $56). But we might forego all that apparel and opt instead for Columbia’s legendary outdoor gear; this 28-inch rolling duffel is nearly $70 off.
50 percent off all swim trunks, T-shirts, tank tops, and shorts. That is all.
Using the code CAMPSAVER20, right now you can get 20 percent off any one full price item and an additional 20 percent off all outlet items. Check out stuff from brands like Osprey, Nemo, Yeti, and Kelty, among others.
Through Monday, get an additional 40 percent off the entire site at perryellis.com. Whether it’s this sharp slim fit white linen suit jacket ($80), a plain white dress shirt ($50), or these comfy linen drawstring shorts ($50), every single thing at perryellis.com is an additional 40 percent off this weekend. It’s almost enough to make you stay inside until Monday.
