The best bike helmet should do more than just protect your head when you take to the track. It needs to be light, breathable, and, of course, aerodynamic. The Synthe from Giro fits the mold.
Weighing a little over a half-pound for a medium fit, the CPSC-certified Synthe is the most aerodynamic the company has released, according to Giro. “We spent hours in the wind tunnel,” says director of helmet development Rob Wesson about the making of the ultralight Synthe, which has deep vents for optimal air flow even on the hottest days — its design sends air through your helmet and over the top of your head. But the bike isn’t all about performance. When Giro built the mesh panels into the sides, they also designated a spot for your riding glasses, saving us all from another pair of broken or lost shades.
