What It Is: Lululemon’s workout wear has become some of our favorite-fitting (and attractive) gear over the past year, and now their Sea To Sky cycling kit is killing it, too.
Why We Like It: The collection overall is a great fit. The jersey features a complex cut that boxes off seams at your lats and under your arms as well as across your shoulders; on longer rides, when these junctions would usually start to chafe over the top of your shoulders or along your spine, we blissfully felt nothing — no rubbing and no irritation. Likewise, we liked the mesh panels along the ribcage under our arms and at the small of our backs, so we stayed cool even on steamier sessions. The extra tall trio of rear pockets, plus a single zippered security pocket, are all well designed and long enough to hold even a larger smartphone or secure a larger mini-pump.
In addition to the jersey, the collection includes excellent bib shorts, with a deep cut at the stomach to allow easier breathing, and wide, stretchy braces, so they don’t cut into your shoulders. Plus, there’s a vest with deeper arm holes to keep your pits comfortable, and a form-fitting front that’s looser at the back to stretch over the contents of your jersey pockets.
Nitpick: Not everything’s perfect from Lulu’s first foray into cycling garb. We prefer a thinner chamois than they feature. And, in general, the sedated coloring might look more stylish, but it doesn’t make it easy for drivers to see you when you’re out on the road.
