Jaguar Walks a Tight Rope
Instead of rolling out print ads and 30-second TV commercials to show off its new XF Sedan, Jaguar decided to show the world that the car can perform a stunt that no one besides James Bond would find functional: drive across London’s Thames River on one-inch thick cables. The car was suspended 59 feet above Canary Wharf and crossed 787 feet cable, claiming the world record for longest high-wire drive — though how much competition can there be? The man behind the wheel, a Hollywood stunt driver from recent Bond and Bourne films, called it one of the “silliest” stunts he’d ever done.
