As Tiger Woods begins his 2015 season this week, competing in the Phoenix Waste Management Open at TPC Scottsdale, he is also launching his latest footwear collaboration with Nike Golf, the TW’15.

Since the first version of Tiger’s kicks launched in 2011, the golf shoes have incorporated a Nike Free-inspired outsole at Woods’ behest. This year is no different, but for the update, Nike has improved flexibility with added siping, or channels that run through the sole. For the new iteration, Nike also reduced the distance to the ground by 3mm. According to Woods, the new design allows him to “push off the ground better and finish my swing with power.”

The shoe also incorporates Nike’s Flyweave technology in its upper portion. Originally designed for basketball, the process allows for a one-piece construction of the shoe’s woven polyester upper. It includes nearly 1,800 meters of yarn, which provides a supportive feel, while reducing weight and increasing flexibility. According to the company, the shoe helps the athlete harness more of the foot’s natural motion, enhancing stability during the golf swing. Thanks to Flyweave and the updates to the sole, Nike says the TW’15 is 10-percent lighter than the last model. That little bit of weight saved helps keep feet fresher and the player fight fatigue on the course.

The Nike TW’15 will be available for pre-order in three colors, February 12. [$250; nike.com]
