Sacramento’s Steve Rex didn’t need to travel far to win an award. Built six years ago for his wife, this beautiful steel city bike took home the prize for the Best City/Utility Bike. Rex used a unique bi-laminate construction style in which hand-made lugs are fillet brazed to another tube. The lugs are filed super-thin to minimize stress at the transition point, which also produces an elegant finish. The bike also boasts handmade stainless steel racks and integrated fenders to ensure that it’s as practical as it is beautiful.
