John Mayer’s reputation makes him an easy inclusion among the worst boyfriends. He’s known for breaking up with 19-year-old Taylor Swift when he was 32 and inspiring these “Dear John” lyrics: “It was wrong/ Don’t you think nineteen’s too young/ To be played.” He also publicly called ex Jessica Simpson “sexual napalm.” But the real kicker was when he held an impromptu press conference outside of his gym immediately after his breakup with Jennifer Aniston to discuss what happened.
“He is doing something right when it comes to dating because he never fails to have an amazing woman. He displays characteristics of being exceptionally charismatic and appealing,” says DiDonato, “but only for his own personal gain and advantage, not for his girlfriends. These are characteristics of narcissism.”
Lesson learned: It’s really not all about you.
