6. Firefly Music Festival
When and Where: June 19-24; The Woodlands in Dover, Delaware
Headliners: Foo Fighters; Jack Johnson; Imagine Dragons
Best of the A-List: Weezer; Band of Horses; Broken Bells
Ins and Outs: “Delaware. Hi, I’m in Delaware.” So bemoaned Wayne in Wayne’s World. He might have to amend his apathetic response to the Mid-Atlantic locale after checking out the Firefly Music Festival, which more than likely, would get an immediate, “We’re not worthy, we’re not worthy!” Located on the sprawling Woodlands property, which includes ample camping and RV sports for concertgoers, think of the festival as summer camp for adults.
Insider Information: Also on the property is the Dover International Speedway, which plays host to a bunch of NASCAR events. If you like the roaring of engines, drinking sixers, and scantily clad women, you might be a redneck … or just want to check out the Speedway’s calendar for upcoming events.
Getting There: Options include a shuttle bus (Rock & Bus); or simply renting a car and driving there, because unlike most major summer festivals, on-site parking is free. As in, it costs no money.
Ticket Information: Pre-sale and Early Bird specials have sold out, so you have a few options: General 4-Day passes are $259 (when those sell out, add $20); Regular 4-Day passes go for $299.
