9. Riot Fest
When and Where: September 12-14; Humboldt Park in Chicago, Illinois (and other cities)
Lineup: TBD
Ins and Outs: Unlike its Chi-town neighbor Lollapalooza (OK, we’ll mention it one more time), which falls in August, Riot Fest busts out in early September. But the 10-year-old festival, which is now “headquartered” in Humboldt Park in Chicago, is a way-less-generic festival, known for its lineups that cater to harder-edged punk and metal acts like Danzig, Bad Religion, and Gwar. It also has a penchant for the newsworthy: Last year, the festival hosted a reunion of famed punk-rock outfit, the Replacements (the band’s first show in 22 years). This year should be no exception to the rule. Note: Riot Fests popped up in Toronto, Canada; and Denver, Colorado in 2013. So if you can’t catch it in the Windy City, you may have other options.
Ticket Information: Early-bird VIP and General Admission 3-Day passes sold out back in 2013. Check back around May.
*The festival falls too late in the summer festival season for the lineup to be available yet; it should crop up around May along with more tickets, per sources at the festival (they refused to give Men’s Fitness any idea of 2014 acts or headliners). “Like” their Facebook page to get up-to-date festival information.
