A heart attack is a major health scare that affects people and their partners both physically and mentally. Of the many resources available to help people address this serious event, advice about sex is noticeably lacking. A new study released by the American Heart Association featured a survey of 3,500 heart attack patients from 127 hospitals in the US and Spain. It found that only around 15 percent of these patients discussed sexual activity with a physician in the month after their heart attacks and that the recommendations that were given were inconsistent.

Nothing can take the place of advice from your physician but experts from the American Heart Association have spoken with us to give you some basic understanding of sex after a heart attack and ways to discuss it.
