4. Lower your productivity and elevate time spent web surfing
Interestingly enough, there’s a sharp increase in entertainment-related Internet searches the Monday after spring daylight saving time, per Penn State researchers who sifted through six years worth of data from Google. Like the other side effects on this list, sleep loss is to blame. Your self-control dwindles when you’re tired, as does productivity. A loss of just 40 minutes can lead you down the rabbit hole of aimless scrolling. On average, you’ll spend 8.5 minutes or more browsing on apps and sites like Instagram or Reddit for every hour of interrupted sleep you got the night before. To cut the urge, go for a walk outside to boost energy levels and regain focus.
