Myth: You can tell someone is stressed out.
It may seem simple to tell when someone is stressed out, but stress comes in many forms. “Everyone experiences stress in their own unique way,” says Ballard. For some it’s physical, causing stiff neck, stomach upset, and headaches. Others become tired, unfocused, and forgetful. Stress can trigger a short temper and irritation or anxiety and preoccupation. If you’ve spent years in close contact with someone — especially if you’ve discussed stress with them — you might be able tell when their stressed out and the kinds of things that trigger their stress, but don’t assume anything.Back to top
