Lateral Box Jumps
“In powder, you have to keep a rhythm to maintain speed,” says Darcy Norman, an alpine strength-and-conditioning specialist with Athletes’ Performance. Lateral box jumps will train you to handle this by forcing your feet to move quickly.
TRY THIS: Grab a low box and stand to the side of it with one foot on the ground and the other on the box. Push off with both feet and jump over it so that you land with a foot on the box and another on the ground. Jump back and repeat 20 times. For snowboarders, take off with both feet on the ground, jumping on and off the box, from left to right and back.
